POCOLA, Okla. -- With another hot Saturday, with temperatures over 90 degrees and no rain, the racing got underway at 7 PM, on another well prepared wide and smooth racing surface, with the clay taking rubber before the hot laps were even finished. By the time features rolled around and the sun was down, the track was glossing over in a 3 to 4 wide racing groove.

In Mini-Stock action, Brian White (owner of the 1W and occasionally piloted by Dale Hargrove), took control early in his feature and never looked back to make it two features win in a row and his third of the year. In Front Wheel Drives, Betty Bieker (29) wife of Jack Bieker (39) took advantage of a one lap dash to the finish, after a yellow, to sneak up on her husband on the last turn and make the pass for the win, which is her first ever A feature victory. Also during the Front Wheel Drive feature, Gary Strange (23) endured a violent single roll over on the front straight, and then 3 impacts from other cars behind him, including the last in the driver's door. He was shaken up, evaluated by the EMT's on duty and released.

In another highly competitive Road Runner feature, Ryan Williams (17) looked to have his 5th feature victory of the season locked up, with Ray Phipps (L7) second, but official results would be different. Although Williams crossed the line first, he was penalized for passing before the start line on an early re-start in the race. (At TSS, the penalties for passing during a re-start are assessed as a two position finishing penalty.) This mistake gave the win to Phipps, Andrew Bohanan (51) second, and Williams third. Andy Milliken (6M) took the lead early on, and survived several re-starts, for his second Super Stock feature win of the season.

Colt Hamilton (9) finally was able to take advantage of a good starting position to win his first A Economy Modified feature of the season. Newly transplanted Fort Smith resident, William Gould (60) had his Modified again in top form as he was able to catch and pass Brandon Wilson (12B) for his 5th win of the season. Gould had the race won last week in his new car, but lost an engine 2 laps from the finish.

Don't forget Tri-State Speedway will not be racing the next to Saturday nights (July 28th and August 4th) for summer vacation.

Tri-State Speedway will resume racing again for a two night show on August 10th and 11th, for the 29th Annual Coca-Cola Summertime Classice, presented by the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Fort Smith, featuring the Mid-South Racing Association (MSRA) Late Models. Start time for both nights will be 8 PM, not the normal 7 PM.

The MSRA Late Models will run a complete show each night. On Friday night, they will be joined by TSS Mini-Stocks, Road Runners, and Modifieds for a regular points program. On Saturday night, along with the MSRA Late Models, we will run a points program for TSS Front Wheel Drives, Super Stocks, and Economy Modifieds.

Adult grandstand admission will be $12 each night, with kid's (5-11) only $3 and kids 4 and under FREE. Adult pit passes will be $30 each night.
