Tyre Wins in Photo Finish, McBride Tops Super Stocks at Creek County Speedway

KELLYVILLE, OK -- Jason Tyre and Trent McBride added their names to the list of 2007 feature winners Saturday night at Creek County Speedway. Tyre won the mini stock feature in a near photo finish while McBride topped the super stock division.

Five drivers took their turn at leading the mini stock feature before Tyre took advantage of miscue by leader Chris Wilhite on the final lap. Points leader Kenny Grumadas took the lead on the final lap but Tyre charged alongside and edged Grumadas at the checkered to win by a bumper. Michael Tyre II finished third after leading midway of the 20-lapper. The race got underway with Justin Woods gunning his way from the outside second row into the first lap lead. Following a lap two yellow Michael Tyre II roared past Woods and led until the yellow waved on lap 15. Austin McSperitt then took over out front before losing power a lap later. Grumadas tried to lead but Wilhite challenged and took over before crashing two laps later.

McBride outran Points leader Jason Holt in the closing laps to win the super stock main event. After a lap 13 restart McBride passed leader James Esmond and led the final seven laps. Holt moved into second on lap 15 but could not challenge McBride. Johnny DeRamus finished third.

Joe Wright outran Chad Davis to win his second modified feature of the season. Wright drove into second on lap four and closed in on race leader Chuck Hall. On a lap six restart Wright powered into the lead. Mark Hughes passed Hall for second on lap 12 before the yellow waved with one lap left. Davis raced into second after the restart and tried to catch Wright before settling for second. Ho Dean moved up to third dropping Hughes to fourth.

Nick Gauntt led Phil Martin to the finish to win his second front wheel drive 'A' feature. Larry Leonard set the early pace after the green flag dropped with Gauntt working his way into second on lap five. Gauntt passed Leonard for the lead on lap six and Martin followed into second. Martin tried to get around Gauntt in lapped traffic the the move failed. Points leader Rick McKinney charged into third on the final lap dropping Wesley Dennis to fourth.

Saturday the sprint cars return while the front wheel drive division will have the night off. Race time is 7 p.m.
